Picked at Johannesburg in an air-conditioned minivan with our professional driver/guide. Travel east across the Highveld grasslands towards the Drakensberg mountains before lunch. Visit 3 Rondavels in the magnificent Blyde River Canyon, God’s Window & other highlights of the Panorama Route. Browse at informal markets near viewpoints for African curios. Leave the mountains & drive down Kowyn’s Pass to Hazyview for overnight at Sabie River Bush Lodge which has a wonderful view across to Kruger Park. Enjoy a sundowner on the deck hoping to see some elephants or hippos in the river then have dinner in the alfresco restaurant or a barbeque on the deck.Day 2: Kruger National Park and Hazyview Day Trip
Exit the park and travel the short distance to Hazyview, a small town close to Kruger National Park. Here you can choose between 3 exciting activities that are not just interactive but also very fun and educational. Perry`s Bridge Reptile Park, is a unique reptile park housing snakes, crocodiles, alligators, tortoise, frogs and many more creepy crawlies that usually bring fear into most of the worlds human inhabitants. The Elephant Sanctuary is a place where young orphaned elephants have been raised and in the process have accepted humans into their daily lives. The Shangaan Tribe is the tribe that lives in and around the southern section of Kruger National Park, their culture is unique and has some amazing traditions. At the Shangaan Cultural Village we can see and experience some of these traditions without imposing ourselves on their daily lives.Day 3: Panorama Route & Sabi Sand
After breakfast you will embark on a tour to explore the renown Panorama Route, departure at 08:30 and arrival at the Sabi Sand lodge in time for the afternoon game drive. The Panorama Route Tour encompasses some spectacular scenery, with breathtaking views of the Blyde River Canyon, and out over the endless Lowveld beyond. You will visit Graskop and continue along the Blyde River Canyon to God’s Window north of the town, before returning to Hazyview via the Lisbon Falls and Berlin Falls. After lunch, a road transfer will bring you to Notten’s Private Game Reserve in the Sabi Sand, where you will stay at Notten’s Bush Camp. Game drives (day and evening) are led by experienced rangers in open-top land rovers, offering an adventurous discovery of the region’s prolific wildlife, including Big 5 game viewing. Unique walking safaris are offered daily giving guest the opportunity of discovering the hidden treasures of the region.Day 4: Sabi Sand & return to Johannesburg
After breakfast, you will be collected by our driver and start your journey back to Johannesburg or if going on to Cape Town there is a very convenient flight leaving at lunch time every day from a local airport and we can drop you there (in which case we refund/discount the cost of the shuttle back to Johannesburg). Remember too you can extend your trip by spending an extra night in the independent Kingdom of Swaziland close by. If pushed for time we can fly you in and out to a local airport at surprisingly little extra. Please ask us about the price of this extra option.
